Well...babies

Who: Nat, Beryl, tiny twins
When: A few months after the twins are born.
What: Oh gods the parents need SLEEP.

Khemrys sighed, looking exhausted and grateful all at the same time, "true thanks, Beryl, that you are willing to aid here..." She passed a bag full of many things from cloth diapers to plastic ones that Jason found easier, and bottles, though adjusting to the breast pump had been, hard, it had freed her up a great deal to do more work in the greenhouse and stillroom, and let Jason feed them at night without having to wake her...

...it was still strange to use. But convenience was a large word in this world!

"Even I can tell you're ready to drop, Khem," Beryl snorted, slinging the bag over a shoulder easily. "We can handle them for a day." Easy, right?

"They are good children, but..."

"But babies, and you're both tired. Especially since Jason had to attend that banquet with Jean-Claude last week," she nodded. "Your job now is to let your employees run the store, let your husband take you to dinner, then you both sleep yourselves out okay?" She figured they didn't need any innuendo there. If they HAD the energy to get up to anything more power to them!

"Nat is getting the car seats installed properly.." She expected him any second really, eager to take an armful of infant!

Fast, sexy man yes he was. She wrinkled her nose in amusement, "no, probably not. I'll feed him next time. share the sliming properly." It was only fair?

Irias was yawning but still awake enough to swing her arms around, bopping her brother shamelessly but he was, indeed, a heavy sleeper.

He was probably used to it being crammed in such a small space with her for so long. "I don't get how they can already seem so much like their dad but so different all at the same time," Nathaniel mused.

"And don't worry about the slime, I don't mind so much: it's not nearly bad as some of the drunk bachelorettes we get at the club."

Probably, and she was absolutely leading the pack on learning all the things about motion! "Because he can come across as a toddler sometimes?" she teased, stripping her shirt off to toss in the laundry. "Shirt babe." It wasn't so bad they needed showers at least?

"Babies have fewer ingredients to toss up!"

He laughed. "Yeah, I'll give you that one. But he totally sleeps like that, too."

He turned and stripped off his shirt, using the underside to wipe at any residue. Then he paused before handing it off to her. "You sure there's no baby throw up on your bra strap?" he asked with a sly smile.

"I don't see him sleep that often," she pointed out in amusement. What? It was true!

"Hmmmm, is there?" she asked, turning around simply. His choice! "I was trying not to tempt the babies as it were..."

"Yeah, he didn't have the room to sprawl in the tent that he does in bed. But when he's comfortable, he's out cold."

He choked out a laugh at that. "Jason said they tried for him once when he was half asleep and changing them: made him jump a mile." His hand brushed down her back and deftly unhooked her bra on its way down. "Better put it in the wash, just in case."

"I have seen him stop chewing when he's distracted though," she admitted. "So I guess Irias takes after him too," she laughed, leaning back against his fingers a moment before she added her bra to the clothes to be washed.

"Turn about's fair babe, let me make sure your braid survived the deluge."

Nathaniel shook his head with amusement. "My hair is going to need washing after this babysitting no matter what." But he didn't move away from her: instead he waited for her to turn towards him and pressed his forehead against hers. "I wonder how long they sleep like that?"

"Of course, but we can absorb anything we can until then," she chuckled, then smiled, rubbing her nose against his, "not long enough probably. And I didn't get that food out. I'll start the wash if you handle that?" She'd stay topless until the kids woke!

He sighed happily, just basking for a moment in the comforting scent of her. "I'll take care of the food, thanks for taking the laundry. It should be ready by the time you get the machine started."

She smiled and draped arms over his shoulders to yes, blot at that braid while snuggling. "I got distracted, I'm sorry babe." She had really meant to at least unpack the stuff Khem sent!

He'd never stop her from snuggling with him. "You don't have to be sorry: the babies needed us first. I don't mind waiting."

He glanced over to the Pack'n'Play where the twins were currently asleep. "I'm actually really surprised they went to sleep so fast. Hearing Jason talk...well, I guess they've got all night to prove him right, huh?"

"Yeeeah," she chuckled wryly, "they were probably kept awake by his fussing during a normal nap time." Hence the current moment of bliss.

This was...kinda blissful honestly.

It really was. He swayed gently with his arms around her. "Then I guess we'll have to thank him later for freaking out," he chuckled. Slowly, he moved closer to kiss her very softly, an initiating move he was becoming much more confident with lately. Confident and maybe a little proud...

She was not at all going to quash initiative! Especially not when it came to taking the lead or starting things hmm? First getting her to take her shirt off, and now such lovely kisses! She melted against his chest slightly, humming happily, "feeding me dessert first?" she teased.

He giggled against her lips. "Maybe. That wouldn't make us bad babysitters, would it?"

Beryl smirked arched against him slightly to tease, "mmmnnaaaahhhhh." Not at all. "We're right here and will hear them even if we're a little distracted..."

"I like distracted," he admitted softly. His eyes fluttered closed at the teasing press of her body. "Guess we should try to be quiet?" he asked, tracing lightly over her back.

"Let me start waaaash," she laughed, "then I am absolutely up for the quiet game..." not that she thought the twins were used to silence being shop kids and Jason kids but...

Nathaniel's expression brightened, the faint appearance of a smirk crossing his lips. "I could come with you...we could see how long before we set the load off-balance again?"

Joking? Look at him!

Her expression slid to sly a moment and she craned her neck around to look at the diaper bag on the counter, "well...did they pack those baby monitor things?" she snickered. What? VALID QUESTION!

He started it, so.

Nathaniel's grin broadened. "And backups. Then he made me show him that I knew how to set them up." He giggled again. "It's just plugging it in, really...plus he sent a ton of extra batteries."

Then he actually gave a tiny, experimental nip to her ear. "He doesn't need all those batteries back, right?"

"Oh, is that why he dragged you into the back bedroom while I talked to Khem?" she laughed softly, a sound that slid throaty by the end after that nip. Oh hello babe yes...

"Not at all," she agreed warmly.

"Not like he's ever let me do anything else with him," he teased.

Oh. He was discovering that he liked when she made that sound: it was a sort of involuntary sound of approval.

No...encouragement? He couldn't remember what the healthier way of thinking of it was, just that he liked it. He took a deep breath and slowly backed away with a sultry smile. "I'll grab the monitor."

"I honestly thought he was insisting on you showing him you can change diapers under a certain time limit or something," she admitted wryly. What? That was the right vibe for Jason's freaking out.

Ohhhh daaaaamn he made it hard to swallow or breathe for a moment didn't he? "Fuck me," she breathed softly. "You do that..." Yup. remembering to go start laundry and only bumping off the doorframe to the utility room A LITTLE.
